Keith Wyness: Tottenham could land 'very bid' fee for star man from Saudi club

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted a potential move to Saudi Arabia is a “big option” for Tottenham star Heung-min Son.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed fans should keep an eye on an emerging trade relationship between the Kingdom and South Korea.

Son, 31, has been widely linked with potential moves to Turkey and the Saudi Pro League – and admitted last summer (2023) that he rejected a transfer to the Middle East.

Wyness previously told Football Insider (28 June) that the South Korea international will still be valued at £100million despite his age.

The forward’s deal runs until 2025 and Tottenham have the option to extend that contract by a further 12 months, but no decision has been made public.

Wyness claimed the Spurs captain would command a “very big price” in the Middle East.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “The big option would be Saudi.

“Spurs will know that. He’d command a very big price in Saudi Arabia for lots of reasons.

“The trade with South Korea would be a big factor in that, and there have been some trade agreements signed between the two countries recently.

“There are often things happening behind the scenes which mean a lot for football, and that has to be paid attention to.

“I think Spurs will give him a two-year contract, but Saudi is certainly an option.”
