King predicts Tottenham senior midfielder could be sold after official transfer announcement

Bryan King claims Tottenham could consider offers for midfielder Yves Bissouma this summer.

The ex-Spurs scout believes Ange Postecoglou needs to decide his preferred options in the middle of the park.

Tottenham announced the signing of Archie Gray from Leeds United via their official website on Tuesday (2 July).

And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – feels this could spell the end for Bissouma’s time at the club.

“I think Postecoglou needs to decide who his best midfielders are, especially with Gray now joining the club,” King said.

“James Maddison will of course be one of them, and of Pape Matar Sarr and Bissouma, I prefer Sarr.

“I think if the right offer comes in for Bissouma, I would imagine it will be considered. Whether or not Bissouma would want to leave is a different question altogether.”

Bissouma made a positive start to life under Ange Postecoglou.

However, as the 2023/24 campaign progressed, the 27-year-old’s form quickly declined and he soon became something of a liability.

While there is no doubt talent there, Postecoglou might decide that he isn’t willing to take any more chances on the Mali international.

Gray has now joined the club, and with Lucas Bergvall also arriving in North London, with the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur, Sarr and Maddison already on the books, Postecoglou might feel that Bissouma isn’t needed.

While the club likely won’t be in any rush to sell the ex-Brighton midfielder, should a suitable offer come in for him, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see it accepted.
