Confirmed: Player decided to quit Rangers on loan the moment British club expressed interest

Airdrie manager David Hutton confirms that Kieran Wright decided to leave Rangers and join them on loan the moment they expressed their interest.

The club made an official announcement on 5 July, confirming that the 25-year-old goalkeeper will join up with the team next week.

Hutton was over the moon with the signing and claimed that Wright will have to fight for his spot to become the number one.

He said: “I’ve worked with Kieran before, he’s a hungry goalkeeper who was very keen to join the club when he heard of our interest.

“He’s good with his feet, and a great shot-stopper. You don’t spend that long at Rangers if you haven’t got a bit about you!

“I’m really looking forward to working with him – and I’m delighted that I’ve got two top goalies competing for the jersey.”

Kieran Wright faces last chance to fight for Rangers future

Kieran decision to join Airdrie on loan from Gers is a significant move for the young goalkeeper.

As he faces the last chance to fight for his future at Ibrox with his contract running out next summer, the pressure is on the 25-year-old to perform exceptionally at Airdrie.

Having spent nearly a decade at Ibrox, this loan move could be a make-or-break opportunity for Wright to prove his worth and potentially secure a permanent move away from the Glasgow club if he fails to impress.

The competition for the number one spot at Airdrie will be fierce, and Wright will need to demonstrate his skills and determination to succeed in this new challenge.

There is an argument made that Gers could’ve looked for a permanent sale but the fact that they let him leave on loan could mean they’ve got a plan for the future.
