Rangers to invest in new playmaker transfer - Chris Jack

Rangers will invest in a new playmaker transfer this summer with Todd Cantwell tipped to leave Ibrox, according to Chris Jack.

The Rangers Review journalist admitted that it would be no surprise to see Cantwell and Tom Lawrence leave the club with links growing by the week [Scottish Sun].

Danilo could play there, but the Brazilian was signed as a number nine and that is where he will likely be used after recovering from his injury woes.

It is no surprise to see this area of the pitch come into focus now after a very busy start to the summer transfer window.

Jefte, Clinton Nsiala, Liam Kelly, Oscar Cortes, Connor Barron and Hamza Igamane have all been confirmed as new signings, with more central players needed now.

Philippe Clement made it no secret that he will be overseeing a full squad rebuild with Nils Koppen and senior players being allowed to leave to back that up.

If Cantwell and Lawrence did join Borna Barisic, John Lundstram and Ryan Jack in leaving the club, more senior players will be needed in midfield.

We have been here before and it was only last summer that Michael Beale went for the same drastic changes, something that didn’t end well for him.

It was only a matter of months before he was sacked, but there is more confidence that Clement and his team can make the most out of this situation.
