Bryan King can’t see Everton signing Beşiktaş ace Semih Kılıçsoy anytime soon.

The ex-Goodison scout believes the fee being quoted for the 19-year-old is “ridiculous.”

As reported via Kontraspor (21 October), the Toffees are preparing a £16.6million-plus offer to sign Kılıçsoy in January, having previously offered £9.9million for the player.

However, King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – doesn’t think Everton is the right club for Kılıçsoy to join.

“A young player coming into a football club fighting relegation isn’t a good move for the player,” King said.

“However, joining a mid-table team which is steady in the division, could be a good move for the future. It doesn’t surprise me that they’re looking at this type of player, with a new scouting department set up.

“They will be asking themselves is he an Everton player? As soon as Premier League clubs look at a young player ridiculous fees start getting spoken about.

“If it happens then it happens. However, I can’t see this transfer getting done in the near future.”

Everton to sign Beşiktaş ace Semih Kılıçsoy?

As King alluded to, there have been changes in the scouting department behind the scenes at Goodison Park (via the Athletic, 10 October). Therefore, that department might be keen to make an instant impact and bring Kılıçsoy to the club.

However, it might not be the right signing for the Toffees.

While Kılıçsoy is no doubt a talented young player, he lacks experience. From Everton’s point of view, £16.6million is a significant sum of money, which could be better utilised to improve Sean Dyche’s squad.

Bringing in a more experienced player in January could be beneficial in case the club find themselves in a relegation scrap.

In other Everton news, Jason Cundy has reacted to a name mentioned as a possible Dyche successor at Goodison Park.
