King View: Door could now open for more Tottenham transfers with medical soon to be booked

Bryan King has suggested Tottenham will be hoping that Yang Min-hyuk can follow in Son Heung-min’s footsteps in North London.

The ex-Spurs scout believes Yang could end up being a “fantastic signing” for the club.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X (24 July), Tottenham are set to sign the 18-year-old with a medical to be booked soon.

Yang will remain with Gangwon FC on loan until January.

And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has questioned this recruitment strategy.

“Spurs are clearly trying to sign young players and build for the future,” King said.

“Perhaps everybody has their fingers crossed that this player will follow in Son’s footsteps. This transfer could potentially open the door for more young Korean players to move to Europe.

“We have seen that 18 is not an age in football anymore. Spurs will therefore be expecting some of these young players they’re signing to be breaking into the first-team.”

“If this player is as talented as Tottenham hope that he is, then it could prove to be a fantastic signing.

“However, they seem to be buying a lot of young players for decent money before sending them back on loan. Whether that is a good strategy or not I am not so sure, we will have to wait and see.”

Tottenham set to sign Yang Min-hyuk

Yang will no doubt be thrilled by the opportunity to work alongside Son.

The Tottenham captain is one of the biggest names in the history of South Korean football and his presence in North London would have no doubt played a part in convincing Yang to join the club.

Tottenham are set to complete the signing of Yang Min-hyuk

Whether or not the 18-year-old ends up being even half as successful as Son remains to be seen. However, it does appear as though Tottenham are signing a lot of young players to build for the future.

While that strategy could prove successful, the club must ensure they have a few experienced players, such as Son, around the dressing room as well.
