'Lashing out fortunes' - Heart and Hand reacts as Chris Jack issues new Rangers transfer claim

Heart and Hand believes that Rangers cannot be lashing out fortunes on players as old as Kenny McLean this summer.

This comes after Rangers Review journalist Chris Jack claimed on 7 July that the club will not have to shell out a lot of money to sign the 32-year-old this summer.

The Scotland international was part of the Gers academy until 2008 before leaving for St Mirren.

Via Twitter, Heart and Hand wrote: “He would have to hit the ground running. It’s not a particularly exciting signing but if it works, great. But yeah, at 32 he needs to deliver immediately.

“Money would gave to be right too, we can’t be lashing out fortunes on players that age.”

Kenny McLean needs to check the boxes for Philippe Clement at Rangers

At 32, McLean is in the latter stages of his career, which means that if Gers were to invest in him, he would need to make an immediate impact on the team after his Euro 2024 displays.

The club cannot afford to spend a significant amount of money on a player who might not be able to perform at a high level for many more seasons.

The Scotland international’s age and the associated decline in physical ability mean that he would need to rely more on his experience and game intelligence.

If he can bring these qualities to Ibrox and quickly integrate into the team, he could be a valuable addition.

However, if he cannot make an immediate impact or adapt quickly, the signing would not be justified, especially given the financial considerations.

This cautious approach aligns with the club’s need to ensure that any signings are both cost-effective and beneficial to the team’s performance.

In other Rangers news, a player decided to seal an Ibrox exit this summer the moment he found out a British club wanted to sign him.
