Leeds have long-standing interest in £5m Premier League striker who scored 13 goals last season - journalist

As Daniel Farke looks to further strengthen his Leeds United squad ahead of the new season, the club are now interested in a Premier League striker.

It’s already been an incredibly busy summer at Elland Road, Farke has welcomed four new signings to the club amid a big exodus of players.

Jayden Bogle is the latest to strengthen Leeds’ bid to return to the Premier League, arriving from promotion rivals Sheffield United.

Leeds kick off their new season in 19 days against newly-promoted Portsmouth, and Farke may still be aiming to make a few more additions before then.

That being said, amid talk of Wilfried Gnonto leaving Leeds, Farke’s side are now said to be long-term admirers of Fulham striker Jay Stansfield.

21-year-old Stansfield has long been touted as a big talent in west London, a player who Fulham have always been keen to keep hold of.

However, after a productive campaign on loan at Birmingham City in the Championship last season, it now seems as if it could be the time for Stansfield to depart for first-team chances.

That being said, Birmingham are now pushing to sign Stansifield on a permanent basis, hoping the striker will be willing to follow the club to League One.

However, according to journalist Alfonso Leocadio who shared his update on X, Leeds are also interested.

The journalist called Leeds ‘long-term admirers’ and admitted that although Fulham don’t want to lose their academy graduate, they would accept a high bid.

Leocadio shared: “Told Birmingham City are pushing to sign Jay Stansfield on a permanent deal.

“Leeds are also long term admirers but BCFC are weighing up a substantial bid.

“Fulham don’t ideally want to lose the forward but would accept a high bid.”

According to some reports, Fulham would be willing to accept a bid upwards of £5m for Stansfield, who reportedly still has a contract with the club until 2027 with the option of adding another year.

If Leeds United were to make a concerted effort to sign Stansfield then many would imagine that their interest would gazump Birmingham’s, not only because they are playing in a division above.
