Weston McKennie left a number of Leeds United fans bemused with his performance for Juventus against Man City in the Champions League.
The Premier League champions saw their struggles continue against the Italian giants on Wednesday night (11 December) as they lost 2-0 in Turin.
That further added to the scrutiny on Pep Guardiola, whose side have now won just once in their last ten games in all competitions.
McKennie in particular impressed in that game, not least when producing an excellent acrobatic finish to seal the win with the second goal for the hosts.
Many Leeds fans though, certainly did not expect to see that impact from the American international in such a high-profile game.
Leeds United fans amazed as Weston McKennie impresses against Man City
The midfielder is of course no stranger to fans of the Yorkshire club, having had a spell on loan at Elland Road during the second-half of the 2022/23 season.
That did not go well, with McKennie failing to impress as the Whites suffered relegation from the Premier League to the Championship.
A permanent move to Leeds therefore fell through for the American, which allowed him to return to Juventus where he is now making an impact in the Champions League.
Supporters of his former club though clearly didn’t expect to see that coming as they took to social media to react to the “weird” sensation of seeing him thrive against Man City.
Indeed, many used his success in that game to point out just how far the Premier League champions have fallen in recent months, while one even suggested Daniel Farke’s side should see if they can get him back.
In other news, one Leeds player is already being tipped to make the step-up to the Premier League.
