Lilywhite Rose backs Tottenham star to return to his best after recent 'Concern'

John Wenham is hopeful that Destiny Udogie’s time away with Italy can inspire him to rediscover his best form at Tottenham.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose hasn’t been impressed by Ange Postecoglou’s side’s defensive performances as of late.

Udogie is currently away on international duty with Italy. The left-back featured as a second-half substitute as his country secured their spot in the UEFA Nations League quarter-final with a 1-0 win over Belgium at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels on Thursday (14 November).

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – hopes Udogie featuring for Italy will provide the 21-year-old with the confidence he needs to find his best form once again.

“I think the defensive form across the board has been a concern,” Wenham said.

“However, it hasn’t all just been on Udogie. The last few games have been really poor overall from Spurs’ point of view.

“Hopefully, Udogie going away with Italy can help him rediscover his best form and give him a much-needed confidence booster Furthermore, he can look to add to the caps which he has already achieved.”

Udogie has had a poor season for Spurs. A big part of why that is could be the lack of competition for his place, something which Spurs might soon look to address (via CaughtOffside, 5 November).

However, competition for his place or not, Udogie must improve in North London.

After Spurs’ miserable 2-1 Premier League defeat to Ipswich Town at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (10 November), a result which has left Postecoglou under pressure, Hotspur Way will not be the happiest place at the moment.

Therefore, Udogie getting away and playing for Italy could be exactly what he needs, and he will hope to return to England full of confidence and ready to turn things around.

In other Tottenham news, the club are interested in signing a £50million-rated Premier League centre-back.
