Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven is out with a higher Grade 2 or potentially a Grade 3 hamstring tear, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that due to this, he is not expected to return for the Manchester City clash on 23 November.
Ange Postecoglou’s side travel to Manchester to take on the defending champions once league action resumes post the international break.
Discussing the state of play with van de Ven exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, shared his verdict.
“This sounds like a higher Grade 2 or potentially even a standard Grade 3 hamstring tear,” he said.
“His return to training will be a progression of strength and mobility training combined with ramping up sport-specific activities, particularly sprinting.
“It seems unlikely that he’ll be ready right after the international break.“
Micky van de Ven will be a huge miss for Tottenham
Van de Ven’s importance to Spurs cannot be overstated and it’s evident that the team looks more fragile without the Dutchman.
While he’s extremely important to Postecoglou, it’s equally imperative that the club do not rush him back to action.
If players aren’t fully fit and asked to deliver 90 minutes, it can lead to dire long-term consequences.
In other Tottenham news, a player is not yet at 100 per cent after a recent injury setback.
