Lilywhite Rose predicts Tottenham to want £80m+ fee to sanction sale of exit-linked Euro player

John Wenham claims Tottenham would want at least £80million to sell right-back Pedro Porro.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose thinks some people will be “amazed” by that price tag.

Spurs signed Porro from Sporting Lisbon on an initial loan worth £5million before the transfer was made permanent for £39million (via Sky Sports News, 1 February 2023).

Therefore, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes the North London club would want at least double what they paid for the Spaniard.

“When it comes to Porro, fans need to remember that Spurs paid more than £40million for him overall,” Wenham said.

“That was a huge amount of money at the time. Therefore, Spurs will be looking for almost double that, £80million-plus.

“That might amaze people, but that’s the reality.”

Porro is only getting better and becoming a more established name in European football.

Therefore, that is bound to lead to transfer speculation, with the defender recently commenting on reported interest from Real Madrid (via Fabrizio Romano, 9 October). However, Spurs will be desperate to keep hold of the 25-year-old.

He is a key player for Ange Postecoglou, and the Australian is unlikely to want to see him sold.

As a result, the North London side must do whatever they can to fend off interest from other clubs.

In other Tottenham news, the club would only accept a “ridiculous” offer to sell another first-team player in January.
