Tyrese Hall has been urged to leave Tottenham on loan in January after his recent struggles.
Hall has started every Premier League 2 fixture for Spurs’ Under-21s this season but is yet to make a first-team squad. Therefore, he is unlikely to be happy with his situation in North London.
Plenty of other talented young players at Hotspur Way have been involved with the first team, with Hall’s Under-21 teammate Alfie Dorrington making his senior debut in the 5-0 Premier League win against Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium [15 December], a match which saw one player break a club record.
Hall was a big part of Spurs’ pre-season preparations and appeared set for a breakthrough campaign. However, that has not materialised, and as a result, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes a loan move could be on the cards ahead of January.
“It is a strange situation because Hall featured heavily during pre-season,” Wenham said.
“However, we’ve not seen him at all since then, and I’m not sure why that is. It is an unusual situation, and I think the best thing for Hall is to head out on loan in January.
“He is above the level of Under-21 football, in my opinion, and should be out playing senior men’s football and gaining valuable experience. Therefore, hopefully, the club are doing everything in their power to facilitate that and get a good move for the midfielder.”
Tyrese Hall to leave Tottenham on loan in January?
In light of Spurs’ injury crisis, which has sparked a behind-the-scenes internal investigation, Ange Postecoglou has been forced to call on young players and name them on first-team benches.
Before the season started, many would have assumed that Hall would be one of the players called upon in such a situation. However, this has not been the case, with 17-year-old Callum Olusesi being preferred ahead of 19-year-old Hall.
It isn’t quite clear why this is, although what is clear is that Hall needs to leave on loan in January.
If he continues to play with a struggling Under-21s side this season, his development could stagnate, and that is the last thing that Spurs would want.
