Mason Mount is expected to be ruled out for Manchester United when they travel to Tottenham on Thursday.
The Red Devils face Spurs in the EFL Cup quarter-final and Ruben Amorim could make up to six changes from the 2-1 victory over rivals Manchester City.
Former Chelsea man Mount has started just four Premier League matches this season and was forced off after 14 minutes in the derby on 15 December.
In fact, the England star has played just 185 minutes in United’s last six matches in all competitions after struggling for form and with injuries since his move to Old Trafford and will likely miss out against Spurs.
Amorim makes six changes for Tottenham clash
Andre Onana is likely to keep his place in goal against Tottenham, despite conceding against City, he made two saves, eight recoveries and recorded a 72 per cent passing accuracy. [Fotmob]
The former Sporting manager is expected to stick with his three-at-the-back system, with a trio of Matthijs de Ligt, Lenny Yoro and Noussair Mazraoui potentially starting at the heart of the Man United defence.
De Ligt recorded an 89 per cent pass accuracy against Pep Guardiola’s side and also made three interceptions, three recoveries and won four out of five aerial duels for an 80 per cent success rate.
Frenchman Yoro made an 11-minute cameo, in which he recorded a 100 per cent passing accuracy from his four attempts, made one clearance and won the only ground duel contested but lost both of his aerial duels.
Mazraoui, who usually plays as a right-back, will likely take the final spot in the back three against the Lilywhites, he recorded an 85 per cent passing accuracy, won three of six tackles for a 50 per cent success rate and made a total of 12 defensive actions.
Winger Anthony and Tyrell Malacia will be utilised as wing-backs, the latter stayed on the bench against City but the former came on for 12 minutes, recorded a 100 per cent passing accuracy from his four passes and made one interception and two recoveries.
Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo will probably sit at the base of midfield, the Brazilian did not make the pitch on Sunday but the Englishman came on in the 14th minute for a 76-minute cameo.
The 19-year-old recorded an 88 per cent pass accuracy, made five recoveries and won seven out of 12 total duels in an impressive display after replacing Mount.
Two changes in attack
Amorim is expected to make two changes in the United attack with only Amad Diallo expected to keep his place in the starting XI.
The Ivorian winger won the penalty for the equaliser and scored a stunning late goal to give United victory on Sunday, recording a 91 per cent passing accuracy, taking ten touches in the opposition box and making four passes into the final third.
Mason Mount has struggled with injury so far in his career at United and it was no different against the Citizens, he recorded a 78 per cent pass accuracy, made two passes into the final third and made one recovery in a 14 minute spell before he was forced off.
He could be replaced by Bruno Fernandes who moves into a more advanced role than he played against City, the Portugal international scored a penalty and recorded a 86 per cent pass accuracy, created three chances, had three touches in the opposition box and made seven passes into the final third.
Finally, Amorim is expected to axe Rasmus Hojlund after the Danish forward recorded a 63 per cent pass accuracy, created one chance, had just one touch in the opposition box and one pass into the final third against City. Joshua Zirkzee might start instead.
