Liverpool fans send clear message about Antonee Robinson after Fulham draw
He was superb against the Reds.
Liverpool were lucky to emerge from their Premier League game against Fulham with a point as the ten-man Reds had to battle for a 2-2 draw.
Andreas Pereira opened the scoring for the Cottagers early on before Andrew Robertson was sent off in the 17th minute for a last-man tackle on Harry Wilson.
Though Liverpool were fighting an uphill battle against an inspired Fulham side, Arne Slot’s superb in-game management saw them remain in the game.
The Reds struck back early on in the second half as Mohamed Salah whipped in a deep cross that Cody Gakpo converted at the back post.
And though Fulham equalised through Rodrigo Muniz midway through the second half, Diogo Jota’s cool finish in the 86th minute salvaged a point for Liverpool.
The game was very much a tale of two left-backs, as Robertson nearly cost his team through his early red card while Antonee Robinson very nearly gave his team the win.
Liverpool fans took to X after the Premier League game to have their say on the Fulham captain.
Liverpool fans want Antonee Robinson to replace Andrew Robertson
A fair few Liverpool fans urged FSG to make a move for Robinson in 2025, claiming he would be a great replacement for Robinson.
One fan said: “Perfect replacement for Robertson and he has proven that not one or twice, but a handful of times.
“I think he was auditioning for Slot to go for him. Why not crack the bank now for him?”
Another wrote: “I’d get Antonee Robinson in the door on the very first day of the winter transfer window.”
On the subject of replacing Robertson, one fan said: “Antonee Robinson should be the replacement, best LB in the league by a mile. He was incredible today.”
Another wrote: “Antonee Robinson would me a massive upgrade at LB for LFC.”
And one supporter said: “Robertson looks leggy (like Fabinho in his last season). I think Robinson is a perfect replacement – or Alphonso Davis.”
How Chris Sutton rated Antonee Robinson display against Liverpool
Pundit Chris Sutton said on BBC Radio 5 Live after Fulham’s second goal: “There is that combination on the left-hand side, Iwobi and Robinson.
“They have caused problems all afternoon. It is a great finish from Muniz.
“Robinson just steams forward, the Iwobi pass is perfect and it’s slightly scruffy but Muniz showed great innovation.”
He then said after the game: “Fulham are a really balanced side and were a big threat down the left. Robinson looked great.”
Robinson admitted Salah gave him a tough time in the first half, but he felt he improved after the interval.
