Liverpool have a player who's just been deemed more valuable than Nico Williams, Arne Slot's yet to start him

Liverpool have enjoyed a bright start to the season under new manager Arne Slot, winning their opening three Premier League games.

Slot has hit the ground running after taking the reins from Jurgen Klopp, who will always be lauded at Anfield for how he brought Liverpool back to the very top.

Despite Liverpool’s bright Premier League start, a talking point has emerged involving one of the most expensive players in their ranks.

The player in question has now been deemed one of the most valuable players in the world, but Slot is yet to start him.

Darwin Nunez valued at up to £92million

Darwin Nunez joined the Reds back in 2022 for a reported £85million, arriving in the Premier League in the same summer as Erling Haaland.

But while Haaland has made a name for himself as consistent goal machine, Nunez hasn’t quite hit those same heights at Liverpool.

Indeed, Nunez started just one of Liverpool’s last six Premier League games under Klopp, and Slot is yet to name him in the starting XI this season.

Despite Nunez’s recent loss of form and mixed time at Anfield, the CIES Football Observatory has deemed that his transfer value has stayed fairly constant.

In their recently updated player value list, the Liverpool ace is 13th on the list, with an estimated value of €86-109million (£72.5-92million).

This puts him above the likes of Alexander Isak, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Nico Williams, Ollie Watkins and Evan Ferguson.

Does Nunez have a good working relationship with Slot?

Speculation was doing the rounds in the summer regarding Nunez’s future, including links with a move to Arsenal.

However, Fabrizio Romano said just before transfer deadline day eve that there was nothing between the Gunners and Nunez.

He also revealed that the striker is very happy under Slot and is liking his approach, having trained under him for a few weeks now.

Romano said on Playback: “Darwin is really happy with Arne Slot, with what they had the chance to do in the first weeks together.

“Very happy with the new approach under the new coach. Full focus for Darwin on Liverpool.

“Obviously, this season is going to be important, he wants to feel as an important player, so let’s see how the season will go.

“But, for this summer, it has never been a possibility for Darwin to leave Liverpool. Never a possibility.

“And never Darwin has asked Liverpool to go. I can guarantee this exactly from those close to Darwin Nunez.”
