Liverpool goalkeeper and fellow Republic of Ireland international Caoimhin Kelleher has sent a message to Jake O’Brien following his transfer to Everton.
The Toffees announced the signing of O’Brien via their official website on Tuesday (30 July), with the centre-back penning a four-year contract at Goodison Park.
The 22-year-old becomes Sean Dyche’s fifth summer signing after the return of winger Jack Harrison on loan and the permanent captures of midfielder Tim Iroegbunam and forwards Iliman Ndiaye and Jesper Lindstrom.
Kelleher was quick to react to O’Brien’s post on Instagram on Tuesday (30 July), leaving a comment which read “all the best bud” with a clapping and a fire emoji.
Everton do well to secure Jake O’Brien signing
Everton’s signing of Jake O’Brien is a move that should have fans excited. The 23-year-old defender, who comes from Olympique Lyonnais for £16.4million, looks like a great addition to the squad. Standing at 6ft 6in, O’Brien offers both strength and skill in defence.
What stands out is his enthusiasm for joining the Toffees. Despite interest from other clubs, he chose Goodison Park because of the club’s rich history.
On top of that, O’Brien’s impressive performances in France have shown what he’s capable of and that he’s ready for the Premier League.
With a four-year contract, O’Brien is also set to grow with the team. His speed and ability to play the ball from the back will add a new dimension to Everton’s defence.
Plus, his eagerness to learn under Sean Dyche means he could become one of the key players heading into this final season at Goodison.
