Lucas Digne 'tempted' to agree Aston Villa deal - report

Lucas Digne is reportedly keen to extend his Aston Villa contract.

The France international is currently under contract at Villa Park until 2026, but he could soon commit his future to the club.

According to L’Equipe, Digne could be tempted to sign a new deal with the Premier League side, especially if he returns to the international team regularly.

Digne received a late call-up to the France squad for this international break, and Digne was unable to hide his joy when he received the phone call.

The left-back wasn’t part of the France squad for the 2022 World Cup or Euro 2024, but he has been brought back into the squad by Didier Deschamps.

If he’s able to get back into the team then he could be convinced to sign an extension at Villa as they would be the club that helped him return to that stage.

Digne is said to be aware that he has to seize every chance he gets to play for France to secure his place in the squad.

After being on the bench for France’s 3-1 loss against Italy, Digne could get the chance to play on Monday (9 September) against Belgium.

Despite being linked with a move away from Villa Park this summer, the 31-year-old did stick with the club he’s played for since 2022.

Ian Maatsen’s arrival from Chelsea had cast doubts over Digne’s future at Villa due to concerns that he wouldn’t get much game time under Unai Emery this season.

However, Digne has started all three of Villa’s Premier League fixtures so far this season and has already registered one assist.
