Everton target Richard Rios is now unlikely to be feeling the aftereffects of his ACL injury back in 2021, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that his fitness record since the rupture has been exemplary and holds him in good stead for a potential transfer.
This comes after UOL reported on 18 July that the Toffees had made contact for the Colombia international valued at £16million.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Rios:
“He had an ACL rupture back in September 2021 but that was nearly three years ago.
“At this stage, he will likely have recovered completely from it and the ensuing lack of injury history is a major green flag.
“If he does leave Brazil, the key will be methodical habits, fitness and minutes in games.
“He’s in his mid 20s so the age isn’t all that concerning as part of that.“
Richard Rios will be a top drawer signing for Everton
Rios showcased his skills in the recently concluded Copa America and while the Premier League is a different ball game, he should not struggle adapting.
The Toffees need to sign a new midfielder after the departure of Amadou Onana and he could be an ideal arrival at Goodison Park.
Having prioritised attacking arrivals this summer, it makes sense for the Toffees to now focus on other areas such as central midfield.
In other Everton news, the Toffees have submitted an offer to sign £25.3m-rated striker ‘destined to leave’ his club.
