Man City fans expect Rodri to be 'out for the season' in 'massive' blow

Man City fans are expecting Rodri to be sidelined for the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury during their draw with Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola’s men rescued a point in the dying seconds when John Stones’ 98th-minute strike levelled the scoreline at 2-2 following goals from Erling Haaland, Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhaes.

However, the attention immediately turned to Rodri after he was withdrawn earlier in the game with what looked to be a serious injury.

The midfielder went down after a collision with Thomas Partey and had to be taken off after 21 minutes, leading fans to speculate that he may have ruptured his cruciate ligament.

Having gone to ground clutching his knee under very little contact, supporters are fearing the worst.

Usually, the time frame for a return from such a serious injury would keep the player out for around nine months, meaning Rodri may not be back fit until June.

This would come as a “massive” blow to Guardiola’s team given the importance of the 28-year-old at the base of their midfield.

Tensions between both teams had reached boiling point by the end of the game, and were compounded when Stones labelled Arsenal’s tactics “dirty” in his post-match interview.

However, after the dust settled, fans on both sides began to speculate about the extent of Rodri’s injury and what it would mean for the title race.

City fans have taken to social media as they believe he will be ruled out for the rest of the season as they were left stunned by the “heartbreaking” development.
