Everton fans have been stunned after Gareth Southgate was linked with taking over from Sean Dyche should the boss lose his job in the coming weeks.

This comes after The Friedkin Group confirmed they have reached an agreement over the takeover of Everton in what has been described as a “historical moment”.

Reports claimed that Southgate has been identified by the prospective new owners should they decide to part ways with their current boss after a string of frustrating results.

Many Everton supporters are expecting Dyche to lose his job following the confirmation of Friedkin’s takeover as pressure continues to grow on his position.
