Man United fans: Amorim 'will never start Casemiro again' after what they saw

Man United fans are insisting Ruben Amorim will make significant changes to his midfield setup after their clash with Ipswich at Portman Road.

Amorim’s first game as United boss ended in a 1-1 draw after Omari Hutchinson put the hosts back on terms following Marcus Rashford’s early strike.

During the game, Casemiro was singled out for criticism as he struggled to make an impact in the middle of the park in the manager’s new system.

Supporters were able to quickly point to what has been flagged as the most serious issue in the team – Amorim’s options in midfield.

Casemiro started the game alongside Christian Eriksen as a midfield duo, and with both aged 32, they lacked the intensity and energy Amorim typically demands from his central players.

The decision was largely born from necessity given the fitness of the players available, with Manuel Ugarte and Mason Mount coming on as second-half substitutes.

As a result, fans are insisting the duo “will never start another game” – while many looked directly at Casemiro as a result of his display.

Amorim’s style will take some time for the United players to adopt, and the performance at Portman Road was the first indicator of the job on his hands.

Despite his side going into the game as favourites, they struggled, and the boss will now be aware of the changes needed to help his side reach their best level.

In particular, fans are insisting the midfield will have to change, as they took to social media following the game to label Casemiro “dreadful” and “shocking”.
