Man United academy product Jesse Lingard has learned the extent of his punishment after getting in trouble with South Korean authorities over a video he posted on Snapchat.
South Korea introduced the law earlier this year to help enhance public safety, with all riders required to wear a helmet, which Lingard also didn’t do.
The former England international has now learned his punishment, a fine of 190,000 Won, which equates to just over £109.
Lingard was quick to acknowledge his mistake and apologised via Instagram on Tuesday (September 17), saying, “I didn’t know the rules of wearing a helmet or having a license as well. In England, and probably in Europe as well, you can just pick up an e-scooter off the street and start riding it.”
Ex-Man United star Jesse Lingard fined after ill-judged post
Lingard joined FC Seoul back in February following his release from Premier League side Nottingham Forest at the end of the 2022-23 season.
After a tricky start to life in Korea, Lingard has seemingly found his feet, scoring three goals in his last six games for the K-League club.
The South Korean giants currently sit in fifth place with 46 points as their season approaches the business end with eight games remaining.
Lingard’s former club Man United next face an away trip to Crystal Palace as they seek to build from their impressive 7-0 League Cup victory over Barnsley on Tuesday (September 17).
