Celtic fans have torn into ex-Rangers star Vladimir Weiss after his performance in their Champions League win v Slovan Bratislava.

Brendan Rodgers led his side to an emphatic 5-1 victory at Parkhead thanks to goals from Liam Scales, Kyogo Furuhashi, Arne Engels, Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah.

However, the focus of many supporters was on the performance of the former Rangers man who struggled to make an impact throughout the game.

Weiss, 24, was greeted by a chorus of boos from the home crowd given his time on the other side of Glasgow, having previously made what he calls “silly comments” about Celtic during his spell at Ibrox (via Football Scotland).

The winger had an opportunity to draw the sides level at 1-0, but delayed on the ball and ultimately fluffed the chance before Celtic took full control of the game.

Much to the joy of the home crowd, Weiss failed to get a hold of the game and was taken off by the Bratislava boss – his father – after 77 minutes.

This came after he recorded a zero per cent cross accuracy, and completed just one of four attempted dribbles as well as just four of his 11 duels, while losing possession 11 times. (Sofascore)

Fans at Parkhead love a pantomime villain, and their reception to the former Rangers man set the tone for the evening he eventually faced on his return to Glasgow.

Having represented the Ibrox club 35 times while on loan from Manchester City in the 2020-11 season, the home crowd showed the sentiment towards him had not faded.

Now, many have taken to social media to his out at the Slovan Bratislava captain after his “nightmare” display, with one labelling him “the worst I’ve seen at Celtic Park”.
