John Eustace is waiting for the green light from the Blackburn Rovers’ owners to sign Todd Cantwell from Rangers, according to the Daily Record.
The newspaper reported on 29 August that the English Championship side have agreed a six-figure fee with the Light Blues.
The Rovers’ manager is now waiting for the club’s owners to sign off a deal before the 26-year-old can complete a move from Ibrox.
Blackburn Rovers waiting on Todd Cantwell Rangers exit
It finally appears that the attacking midfielder has found a new home away from the Scottish Premiership after refusing to play this season.
This is a saga which has rumbled on throughout the summer despite their being a role for the former Norwich man to play in the squad at Ibrox.
Under Philippe Clement, alongside the wantaway Ianis Hagi, the campaign could have started differently if the Englishman was available to feature.
It says a lot that the best move that Cantwell can find is to Blackburn who avoided relegation to League One on the final day last season.
The question remains why would he rather feature in a potential relegation battle in the Championship rather than in Europe with Rangers?
It appears that is his choice and now the 27-year-old is just waiting on the Blackburn hierarchy to give the all-clear on the deal before it goes through ahead of the 30 August deadline.
