'My understanding is': Sky Sports journalist shares Mo Salah update after his comments about leaving Liverpool

Despite Liverpool hammering Manchester United 3-0 today, all the talk after the game was about some comments made by Mohamed Salah.

The Liverpool forward had got his usual goal at Old Trafford today and was once again superb in a big win for the Reds.

However, after the game, Salah caused a stir by seemingly suggesting he could be in his final year at Liverpool due to his ongoing contract situation.

“As you know, it’s my last year at the club,” Salah said on Sky.

“I just want to enjoy it and I don’t want to think about it. I feel like I’m free to play football and then we’ll see what happens next year. No-one at the club has spoken to me about contracts, so I’m just like, ‘OK, I’m playing my last season’ and see what happens at the end of the season.”

As expected, Salah’s comments have led to a frenzy of information being given in the aftermath.

And now, Sky Sports’ Melissa Reddy has clarified what she believes to be Salah’s position.

Taking to social media platform X to provide an update on Salah and his comments, Reddy has said she believes the Egyptian wants to remain at Anfield.

Salah has previously been quite cryptic over his future at Liverpool and there have even been suggestions Federico Chiesa was signed to help manage Salah’s minutes this season to keep him fresher.

Liverpool have to get Salah tied to a new deal

While Salah might be into his 30s now and Liverpool’s powers above will look at that, the fact of the matter is he remains one of the world’s best players.

He is simply on another planet at times with his performances at Liverpool and he showed it yet again today.

A goal, two assists, and a constant menace for United, Salah is simply brilliant when it comes to turning it on in big games.

His record against United is outstanding and given how fit he is, he can continue for years to come.

Liverpool, then, need to look past the age on this one and simply give Salah what he wants.
