Billy Dodds was left shocked when Nicolas Kuhn blitzed past Rangers defender Robbin Propper in their Scottish League Cup final clash with Celtic on Sunday afternoon.

Propper has been a regular for Rangers although concerns have emerged over his suitability in Scottish football and his lack of pace is a huge contributing factor.

That lack of pace was on show in their Scottish League Cup final encounter against Celtic with Dodds astounded by what he saw in the early stages of the encounter, moments before Hamza Igamane was blasted for what he did.

Speaking on BBC Radio Scotland (15 December, 3:45 pm) Dodds said: “Listen Kuhn is quick, he’s a flying machine at times, but my word, you get in a foot race with him I’m thinking ‘oh no son, you’re in trouble’ and he was. Probably gave him five yards, he got the other side of Propper.”

Jack Butland was called into action making a crucial save to keep the score level after just 15 minutes.

Robin Propper is a concern at Rangers

Propper certainly has his strengths but how suited they are to Scottish people leaves questions to be asked and it may be a position under consideration ahead of the January transfer window.

His struggles since joining Rangers have been evident and it was again showcased when Kuhn was able to beat him like he wasn’t there in the opening stages of the Old Firm.

Of course, the Dutchman is part of a Gers side that have severely underperformed in league competition so far with an 11-point gap prominent between them and Celtic.

An inability to strengthen the centre-back options at Ibrox in January could prove detrimental to any minuscule chance they have of a tile push this season.

At the very least, improvements must be made ahead of the new season or the club face the prospect of a repeat of what has been a dismal league campaign so far.

In other Rangers news, Tam McManus was baffled by an outrageous claim made by one Gers star.
