'Negotiations started': Arsenal have opened talks to sell their 'incredible' £50m attacking player - Romano

Arsenal are in talks to sell one of their key players from last season as they look to ramp up their plans for the rest of the summer.

While all eyes have been on who Arsenal might sign this summer, a lot of work has been going on in the background when it comes to players moving on as well.

Arsenal have found it hard in recent seasons to get good money for unwanted players but they seem to be making it a priority this summer to balance the books.

Emile Smith Rowe could be on his way out after a bid from Crystal Palace, while a number of others could also follow.

One of those players who could follow Smith Rowe is Eddie Nketiah.

And after reports of a bid from Marseille for Nketiah last week, Fabrizio Romano has now given an update on where things are with Marseille and the Arsenal forward.

Taking to X to provide the update tonight and building on a tweet from journalist Santi Aouna, Romano has confirmed that Nketiah to Marseille could be on.

Lauded as an ‘incredible‘ young talent by Mikel Arteta, Nketiah has not quite made the breakthrough with Arsenal he hoped.

Despite being a key squad player last season, Nketiah has still found himself down the pecking order and talk of another striker arriving has done little to appease him.

Nketiah is believed to be open to moving on and for Arsenal his sale represents a pure profit margin when it comes to PSR and FFP.

The Gunners are said to value him around the £50m mark but Marseille will not be paying that after splashing out on Mason Greenwood as well.

Arsenal, then, will need to drop their demands if they are to get Nketiah off the books here.
