'That's nonsense': Peterborough chairman reacts after what he's heard about Ivan Toney amid Tottenham links

Tottenham Hotspur have not exactly made the brightest of starts to this summer’s transfer window with just one permanent signing through the door.
Ange Postecoglou‘s side are now just days away from making the trip the other side of the world for their pre-season tour of Asia.
And yet, Daniel Levy has only been able to provide the Australian with Archie Gray in the market – aside from the loan return of Timo Werner.
A lot of doubts remain about Tottenham’s squad with injuries to the likes of Richarlison keeping the Brazilian out of the early pre-season efforts.
Addressing the forward line is going to be of importance with an increased schedule ahead of Tottenham this season.

What Ivan Toney’s agent is now saying about his future
Who will lead Tottenham’s attack going into the new season is a real mystery as they still look for their Harry Kane successor.
Of course, that is easier said than done but Richarlison could still leave Spurs with interest coming from Saudi Arabia.
That would certainly open the door for Tottenham to explore the market for a new striker this summer and one that has been linked is Ivan Toney.
Tottenham are now said to be the ‘most likely’ landing spot for Toney this summer.
Reporter for TalkSPORT Alex Crook has, however, suggested that Toney will demand big wages this summer to make a move happen.
In response, chairman of Toney’s former side Peterborough, Darragh MacAnthony, has rubbished that claim sharing his information from the striker’s agent.
“Well, that’s nonsense. I know that for a fact. I know his agent really well. Again, that shows that you are not in the know. I speak to his agent every week because he has got two of our players,” MacAnthony said on Friday.
Tottenham are desperate to sign a new striker
In just two pre-season games, it can already be seen that Spurs are missing a target man up top as Heung-min Son continues to lead the line.
Will Lankshear has shown some real promise but the youngster may not be seen quite ready to become the starter by Postecoglou.
Lankshear also has some interested from Championship clubs this summer.
With Toney’s price expected to be slashed as he enters the final 12 months of his deal, perhaps this is an that Tottenham really consider towards the backend of the window if Brentford become desperate to sell.
