Newcastle United fans have urged the club to consider buying Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap to address their goalscoring issues.
The Magpies were defeated 2-1 by Chelsea on Sunday (27 October), marking the first time Eddie Howe’s men have gone five league matches without a win since March 2023.
Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day 2 programme, Stephen Warnock addressed Newcastle’s issues as he said, “Their XG was higher than Chelsea’s today, so they’re creating opportunities, but then you look at that opportunity that [Alexander] Isak misses, that’s game-changing.”
Isak has only scored once so far in the league, while Howe has been without Callum Wilson all season due to a back injury.
The Magpies are currently 12th in the table and have scored just nine goals, which is fewer than any of the teams above them.
Newcastle United fans believe Liam Delap could answer their attacking problems
Delap was on the scoresheet on Saturday (26 October) for Ipswich, although it wasn’t enough as they were beaten by Brentford 4-3.
The 21-year-old joined the Tractor Boys from Man City during the summer transfer window for £20million and has proven his quality in the Premier League by scoring five goals in nine appearances.
Warnock’s comments have left fans pointing at the need for investment upfront, with fans urging the club to buy Delap as his “price tag is just going to go higher.”
