Unless you have been living under a rock, you would have seen that Thomas Tuchel is the new manager of England.
The 51-year-old will be widely remembered for winning the Champions League at Chelsea, as well as taking gigs at Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
Some might even remember Tuchel for his infamous handshake with Antonio Conte after Tottenham’s dramatic draw against Chelsea in 2022 at Stamford Bridge.
Unfortunately, by the time Tottenham and Chelsea would meet again for the reverse fixture, neither were in their respective jobs, so we weren’t able to see how all of that would unfold.
Perhaps Conte can take the Italy job just to spice things up?!
Just before Conte was sacked by Tottenham, he went on a rant after his side’s draw against Southampton, with Ange Postecoglou then coming in during that following summer.
When Daniel Levy went looking for a new coach, one of the things he was looking to do was bring back the entertainment factor at Hotspur Way.
But equally, he wanted to bring in a high-level coach, who could win the trophies as well as push the club back into the Champions League.
It seems as though, one of the names discussed and managers who were talked with was Tuchel, as German journalist Raphael Honigstein hinted at.
The European football expert was reacting to Tuchel becoming England manager and how he has always loved English football.
Honigstein shared that, not only were Tottenham looking to appoint the 51-year-old as their manager, but so were Manchester United, as he told talkSPORT.
Thomas Tuchel loves English football
“He loves English football and he loves English players,” said Honigstein. “He worked with Eric Dier. He worked with Harry Kane at Bayern. He tried to bring in a couple more English players.
“He was forever talking about how much he enjoyed working in England. Working in English dressing rooms or the dressing room at Chelsea. I think he wanted to come back to England full stop.
“There was no secret that he had discussions with Manchester United. I think one or two other clubs were looking at him. I think Spurs were looking at him not so long ago, so for him, I think it is a bit of a dream move. As I said, a real passion for English football.”
Tottenham players who can benefit now Thomas Tuchel is the England manager
James Maddison continues to get snubbed by England and he will be hoping that Tuchel can finally open that door for him.
He is the obvious one who will be looking to impress the new manager, as well as striker Dominic Solanke, who was part of the recent squad.
Then you have Tottenham’sr rising star Archie Gray, perhaps not for now, but certainly for the future, you expect him to earn England call-ups.
