'Nonsense' - Four Lads issue Rangers admission after what happened in Italy v Albania Euro clash

Four Lads made a joke about the defending at Rangers after Italy conceded the fastest-ever goal in the EUROs against Albania on 15 June.

Nedim Bajrami scored after 23 seconds courtesy of the Azzurri defence not starting the game strongly as they made a few errors early on.

Four Lads alluded to the fact that it may be hard for Gers fans to watch it and not remember the way their side have defended over the last few years.

Via Twitter, they wrote: “As Rangers fans we should be used to watching that level of defensive nonsense.”

Rangers need to solidify their defence next season under Philippe Clement

The joke made by Four Lads highlights the fact that Gers’ defence has been a source of frustration for fans in recent years.

The team have struggled to keep clean sheets and has often conceded goals due to individual errors or a lack of organisation at the back and hopefully, the signing of Clinton Nsiala makes things better.

Their defensive frailties have been a major factor in their inability to consistently compete with Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title.

By improving their defence, Gers can give themselves a much better chance of winning silverware.

In the pre-season, Clement and his coaching staff must focus on improving the team’s defensive organisation and discipline.

This could involve working on the players’ positioning, communication and decision-making.

They could also look to improve the team’s defensive structure and tactics, such as their pressing and counter-pressing.

Additionally, Clement could look to bring in new defensive signings or promote players from the academy who can provide the team with more defensive solidity.

In other Rangers news, a first-team player is close to agreeing on personal terms with another Ibrox exit on the cards this summer.
