Rangers have rejected a Norwich City bid for Rabbi Matondo, according to Mike McGrath.
The Telegraph journalist reported via his personal X account on Wednesday (28 August) that the Canaries offered a loan bid for the 23-year-old winger.
McGrath adds that while that loan offer has been kicked into touch by the Light Blues, Wales international Matondo is still wanted by clubs in the English Championship.
Norwich City fail with opening bid for Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo
It’s unlikely that any Rangers fans will miss Matondo if he leaves Ibrox before the end of the month.
However, it’s worth remembering that was against Ross County – a team with the quality that Norwich would only face if they’re drawn against a non-league club in the FA Cup later this season.
Matondo has played his part as a Rangers player but there have to be serious questions asked if Philippe Clement or anyone else in a position of power at Ibrox thinks he’s the kind of player who’s going to help beat Celtic to the title this term.
Of course, Matondo might still stay as Norwich’s bid has, after all, been rejected.
But if they come back with more favourable terms, maybe an obligation-to-buy and a decent loan fee, it would convince the Gers to bid farewell to the former Schalke and Manchester City winger.
In other Rangers news, the Gers are set to sign a player on a loan-to-buy deal.
