Darren Bent expects Everton to avoid relegation this season due to the experience of Sean Dyche and his squad.
The Toffees are currently 16th in the Premier League, three points above the bottom three, and are set to face Brentford next on 23 November at Goodison Park.
Bent hasn’t been impressed with what he’s seen from the Blues, but despite their struggles, he is confident about them not dropping into the Championship while speaking on talkSPORT [21 November, 16:43].
“Do you know what I feel about Everton? Whenever it gets to crunch time, I always feel like they’re going to be okay,” he said.
“Their football has not been great for a while, the last couple of seasons, probably longer than that. They’ve hovered around relegation, and they’re better than that.
“I still think they’ve got enough to stay up. They’ve got experience. They’ve got players when they really need something from somewhere will produce it. And they’ve got a manager that’s been there and done it before. They’re not going anywhere.”
Everton can’t continue relegation struggles
Dyche has done well in keeping Everton in the English top flight since taking over the team in January 2023, but that isn’t enough.
It’s been a grim few seasons in Merseyside for the Toffees, but they’ve managed to survive the drop and were able to do so in the previous campaign despite being docked points.
While the former Burnley manager needs to be commended for certain aspects at the Blues, the 53-year-old has failed to make any progress during his time in the Goodison dugout.
Everton are a historic team in England and can’t be languishing around the drop zone every year.
With the club set to move to Bramley-Moore Dock for the start of next season, it’s imperative they remain in the Premier League, as inaugurating the new stadium in the Championship would be embarrassing.
The Friedkin Group’s takeover has also been an anxious wait for the Goodison faithful, but the impending departure of Farhad Moshiri has definitely been welcomed in every corner of the fanbase.
With the British-Iranian businessman set to be replaced, a new era is about to commence, and hopefully, one that sees the Blues’ prospects flourish for their sake.
