Nottingham Forest have taken inspiration from Everton with Real Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United looking at Murillo, according to Graeme Bailey.
The TBR journalist told Nottingham Forest News on 1 November that they’re aware that he’s talented, left-footed and has high potential and the City Ground outfit are pricing him in a similar range to what the Toffees did with Jarrad Branthwaite.
The Merseyside outfit rejected approaches from Manchester United over the summer and valued the 22-year-old at £70million. [Telegraph]
Bailey said: “Forest know what a talented player they’ve got on their hands. A brilliant young player, Brazilian, left-footed. He ticks a lot of boxes.
“We know Real Madrid are one of the clubs looking at him, but there’s Arsenal, Chelsea, United, they’re all looking at him. Forest see him in that Jarrad Branthwaite category, sort of £60-£70 million.
“Forest are not worried, they know he’s playing well, so they understand he will attract interest like that.”
Everton have every right to demand that much money for Jarrad Branthwaite
The Toffees’ valuation reflects the current market dynamics where young, promising defenders with specific attributes like left-footedness can command high fees.
This valuation isn’t speculative as it’s clearly grounded in the reality of transfer fees paid for similar profiles, showcasing Everton’s recognition of Branthwaite’s potential and market demand.
Given the Englishman’s performances and the interest from top clubs like Manchester United, the Merseyside outfit’s stance seems justified.
Inflation along with the scarcity of elite, young defenders, particularly those who can slot into various tactical systems, supports such a valuation.
Whether clubs will meet this price next summer remains to be seen as he’s only going to get better with time.
Fans will be hoping that Branthwaite stays at the club for years to come but he might have loftier ambitions.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are looking to sign a Brazilian striker who’s open to a Premier League move in January.
