Paris Saint-Germain Ladies have announced the signing of Nigerian football star Jennifer Onyi Echegini, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Super Falcons midfielder has signed a four-year contract that will keep her with the French club until June 2027.

Her performances helped Juventus qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League, earned her a spot in the Team of the Year, and she was named the best young player of the season.

Earlier this week, Echegini posted an emotional farewell message to Juventus fans, indicating her desire for new challenges. After signing with PSG, she expressed her excitement about joining one of Europe’s top clubs.

“I am experiencing a great moment in my career today,” Echegini said.

“Signing for Paris Saint-Germain is a huge source of pride. I am very proud to join a club that is recognized around the world for its ambition and excellence.

“I can’t wait to get started and I can’t wait to give the best of myself to try to win, with my teammates and for the supporters, as many trophies as possible.”

Born in Nijmegen, Netherlands, Echegini, also known as “Joe,” began her football journey in England. She played in the youth teams of Millwall Lionesses FC and Arsenal.

In 2019, she moved to the United States to join the University of Mississippi, and later, Florida State in 2022.

In her final season, she led her team to the 2023 NCAA Championship title and received several individual awards, including the best attacker and best player in the ACC and the Hermann Trophy.

Echegini has earned 10 caps and scored one goal for Nigeria’s Super Falcons. She was part of the squad that reached the knockout rounds of the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia.

The 23-year-old is also set to represent Nigeria at the Paris Olympic Games next month.
