Omar Marmoush is likely to leave Eintracht Frankfurt despite attempts to secure him to a new deal with Liverpool a concrete possibility to sign him, according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.
The striker scored a brace against Heidenheim on Sunday (1 December) to bring his goal tally to 13 for this seasons’ Bundesliga campaign and 17 in total.
The 25-year-old is currently the second-highest scorer in the league behind only Harry Kane, and has the most goal involvements in the Bundesliga with 20, making him a top transfer target for Arne Slot’s side this summer amid rival interest from the likes of Man United.
Plettenberg tweeted on X: “Eintracht Frankfurt remain keen on extending his contract beyond 2027, but a summer transfer in summer appears likely. Liverpool are showing concrete interest, while top clubs like Manchester United and FC Bayern are monitoring his situation.”
Due to his impressive performances, Marmoush has played a key role in helping Frankfurt sit second in the Bundesliga, just four points behind leaders Bayern.
Omar Marmoush the answer if Liverpool lose Mohamed Salah?
Football Insider opinion
Mohamed Salah has been Liverpool’s star talisman for years, with his goals and assists playing a crucial role in the team’s success.
The 32-year-old already has recorded 11 goals and seven assists in 13 games for the Reds in the Premier League this season, as they sit top and nine points ahead of rivals Man City, having registered one of each in the 2-0 win over Pep Guardiola’s side at Anfield on Sunday.
However, with less than a year left on his contract, speculation about his future is growing, and he could depart for a new challenge. Should Salah leave, Marmoush would be an ideal replacement.
Frankfurt’s talisman has been in sensational form, and while plenty of big sides are clearly taking notice it looks like Arne Slot is at the front of the queue.
Arguably an under-appreciated attacker in the Bundesliga, Marmoush has somewhat of an unorthodox style of play. Very direct and quick, the Egyptian can operate anywhere across the front three like Salah, making him a perfect fit for the Kop if they have to lose his compatriot.
