John Wenham believes Tottenham gem Reiss Elliott-Parris is “one to watch” in North London.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose expects the 17-year-old to become a regular for the Under-21s after he scored twice for Spurs’ Under-18s in a 3-3 draw with Chelsea’s Under-18s at Cobham Training Ground in the Under-18 Premier League [30 November].
Just one day before his brace against Chelsea, Elliott-Parris made his debut for the Under-21s in their 6-1 Premier League 2 victory over Middlesbrough’s Under-21s at Hotspur Way [29 November], a match in which another youngster made an impression after an “excellent” moment.
And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – was surprised by the quick turnaround.
“Elliott-Parris is incredibly versatile,” Wenham said.
“He is able to play up front, as well as on the wings. Ahead of the match against Chelsea, he made his debut for the Under-21s the night before, coming off the bench.
“Therefore, I was quite surprised to see him straight back in with the Under-18s and scoring too. He is an interesting player, and certainly one to watch over the next six months. I expect him to become the starting right winger for the Under-21s.”
Reiss Elliott-Parris to feature regularly for Tottenham Under-21s?
It seems as though Spurs can’t stop producing top talent at the moment, with a contract offer recently made to one of the best young players in the country.
Ange Postecoglou has demonstrated plenty of times this season that he isn’t afraid to give young players a chance in North London. Therefore, even though he is still only 17, as long as Elliott-Parris is making an impression at Under-21 level, there is every chance he will be given first-team chances this season.
Mikey Moore is only 17, and he is already a first-team regular. As a result, Elliott-Parris must use this as motivation to keep putting in big performances at Hotspur Way.
In other Tottenham news, the club have picked their favourite option to replace Postecoglou in a sack decision.
