Højlund is fresh off a breakout season in Denmark. The 6'0" midfielder made 10 Superliga appearances in 2023/24, as well as six in the UEFA Champions League group stage, and a further four during Copenhagen's run to the quarter-finals of the Danish Cup. He also made his debut for the Denmark U19s, before being handed the captain's armband in November 2023. The former U17 and 18 international had been on the Copenhagen books since the age of 13, initially working his way up through the ranks of sister club Hørsholm-Usserød Idrætsklub. He could become the third Danish national to play in the Bundesliga for Frankfurt, after Jesper Lindström and Frederik Rönnow.
