PL attacker interested in summer Everton transfer on one condition - report

Chelsea striker Armando Borja is interested in joining Everton during the summer transfer window on one condition, according to i News.

The outlet reported on its website on Wednesday (24 July) that the Blues forward is interested in making the move to Goodison Park if Dominic Calvert-Lewin departs before the end of the summer window.

Despite Sean Dyche’s side holding an initial interest in the Albanian international, they have not followed it up in the last few weeks as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season.

Reports had suggested the Blues would reignite their interest in Broja if the Friedkin Group’s takeover was completed [BBC Sport, 18 July], but that deal has since collapsed leaving the Toffees in an ownership limbo.

Will Dominic Calvert-Lewin exit Everton amid Armando Broja transfer update?

While there has been very little movement from either party involved in the potential deal for Broja, this transfer saga already feels as though it has been rumbling on for the entirety of the window.

Everton don’t have loads of money to spend as they look to make additions to their squad ahead of the new campaign, but a new striker will have to be a priority if Calvert-Lewin does depart in the coming weeks.

Broja may not have been prolific throughout his Premier League career, but he fits the mould of what Dyche will be looking for in a centre-forward and therefore would be an excellent addition to the ranks.

If he is as keen on making the move to Goodison Park as has been reported, agreeing personal terms with the Albanian international shouldn’t be an issue.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be moved on by Everton this summer if he doesn’t sign a new contract

However, the Blues will still have to agree a fee with Chelsea and that could well be harder to do. Enzo Maresca’s side don’t tend to allow players to leave for nothing and that will mean a big fee may be needed to get this over the line.

It does feel like whatever happens to Calvert-Lewin will have massive implications on whether or not Everton manage to get their man this summer.
