Arsenal are under pressure to sell Reiss Nelson and Everton are one of the teams interested ahead of the 11pm transfer deadline, according to TBR Football.
The online source reported [30 August] that the 24-year-old’s departure would help ease Financial Fair Play concerns as Raheem Sterling looks to make the switch to the Emirates Stadium.
It is understood that the Gunners would prefer a permanent deal ahead of the 11pm deadline, wanting £30million for the winger, but a deal sheet may need to be submitted to complete the move.
The Toffees are facing competition from Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town and West Ham United this summer.
Everton to sign Reiss Nelson from Arsenal?
While Mikel Arteta’s side will be keen to avoid any FFP issues heading into the new Premier League campaign, the Toffees will be in no mood to face further punishments from PSR breaches.
Sean Dyche’s side were docked a total of eight points last season, with a third points deduction being mooted at Goodison Park [Matt Hughes].
This would suggest that a £30million move for Nelson is out of the question, but a loan deal for the Arsenal man is a different story.
Nelson has made just one Premier League start throughout the last four Premier League campaigns, playing a backup role to Bukayo Saka, and coming on as a substitute 27 times.
Given his situation, it would not be hard to believe if the player was hoping to leave his club before the transfer window slams shut at 11pm but he is currently running out of time.
While Dyche and Kevin Thelwell have added Iliman Ndiaye and Jesper Lindstrom to the attacking lineup, goals are still a concern after scoring none in the opening two matches of the season, also conceding seven.
With his last goal coming against Brentford in the EFL Cup in September 2023, it is unlikely that Nelson would solve this problem for Dyche.
In other Everton news, the Toffees have made a new decision on Ernest Nuamah as a transfer twist emerges.
