Private Textor concerns about Dyche as Everton boss emerge - report

John Textor has concerns about Sean Dyche as Everton manager despite publicly stating he won’t get involved in the managerial situation before a takeover, TBR Football reports.

According to the outlet’s website on 13 September the American’s unhappiness about the start to the season is shared by the current Toffees hierarchy.

Conflicting reports have come out as to how much danger of the sack Dyche is actually in, with TBR Football suggesting a change could be made if results don’t improve by the next international break in October.

The Telegraph (13 September) and others suggest the club are ready to back him for the rest of the season, even if addressing his expiring contract is beyond the current interim board.

But although Textor told Sky Sports’ Alan Myers on 12 September he would speak to Dyche in future and “ask him if he could coach this squad”, he is said to have his doubts as things stand.

Everton lose from 2-0 up again at Aston Villa

Despite what was arguably the best performance of the season so far, against the strongest opposition, a second-consecutive defeat from 2-0 up against Aston Villa has made it zero points from four now.

The heavy defeats to Brighton and Tottenham were pretty abject and came during an injury crisis, while throwing away an 87th-minute two-goal lead at home to Bournemouth turned the tide against Dyche for many, but there were some encouraging signs at Villa Park.

In reality it possibly doesn’t matter what the ex-Burnley boss does right now if Textor actually gets his takeover completed since new owners like to make their own appointments either way, and the American seems to favour the bombastic.

Dyche is strictly meat and potatoes but his achievements in keeping the Toffees away from relegation oblivion twice already can’t be overlooked.

But with fans often unsatisfied with his style and his deal expiring in the summer that could be the extent of his Everton career.

Whether Farhad Moshiri is moved to step in and make a change before then is a more pressing concern, even if it would be a risk to make a change despite the results.

In other Everton news, a seven-figure Toffees financial victory could back to bite them and every other Premier League club.
