Pundit backs Clement to sell 'One or Two' Rangers stars after 'Alarming' transfer admission

Rangers will look to get “one or two players” out of Ibrox this summer after an “alarming” transfer admission from Philippe Clement, according to Gordan Dalziel.

The Light Blues manager revealed during the Gers’ pre-season training camp in the Netherlands that the Gers would have to sell players before adding further talent to their ranks in the coming weeks.

While Clyde 1 pundit Dalziel believes the Light Blues will recoup fees for some outgoing stars this summer, he has admitted he is surprised to see Clement “waste” money on unproven players.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard on Monday (15 July) he said: “I think if you went to the manager and said, look there’s not a lot of money there to spend, you wouldn’t be spending it on players that you have to wait six, seven, eight months for down the line.

“You’ve got to hit the ground running, they’ve got an important season ahead and you wouldn’t waste that money.

“They’re now looking to get one or two players off of the wages obviously and try and recoup some money in for them, but it is alarming when the manager comes out and says every other player is for sale.

“That’s alarming for me if you’re Rangers.”

Are Rangers close to any new signings in the summer transfer window?

As Dalziel suggests, it is worrying that Clement is already in this position during his first summer in charge at Ibrox, especially given the fact a big summer rebuild had been touted in Glasgow after a poor end to the campaign.

While several new additions have been made to the Belgian’s first team, very few of them seem ready to step into the fold immediately.

The Rangers boss has admitted that both Clinton Nsiala and Hamza Igamane are long-term projects and may not immediately play week in and week out in the Premiership.

Clement’s side cannot afford to start the season at a canter. As Dalziel said, they have to hit the ground running and to do that they are going to need more than a few more signings before the campaign gets underway.

Hopefully, they will be able to shift “one or two” players off of the wage bill sooner rather than later so that this “alarming” situation can be put to bed.
