Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will not be willing to sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Fulham during the summer transfer window, according to Alan Hutton.

The Danish international has fallen out of favour since Ange Postecoglou arrived in North London, only starting eight Premier League games last season as the Lilywhites missed out on a place in the Champions League places.

Spurs are understood to be willing to let the 28-year-old depart this summer and while Atletico Madrid seem to be the current favourites [Daily Mail, 10 June], Fulham have been tipped to move for the midfielder if Joao Palhina is to leave.

Although Hutton believes Levy will demand the same fee from anybody looking to buy Hojbjerg this summer, he thinks the Tottenham chief will be more willing to do business with foreign clubs than he will a Premier League rival.

“No owner will really want to sell to a rival,” Hutton exclusively told Tottenham News.

“It’s kind of through gritted teeth if that ever happens and I’ve heard that Jose Mourinho is now interested in him as well. He knows the player, could that be something that he’s keen on?

“Of course, they’ll still want the same money and if it’s not to a rival then it is even better, so we will see how it pans out.

“I think that could be one that we’ll have to look at because it could be a possibility.”

Will Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou sell Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg during the summer transfer window?

While Levy and Postecoglou will be looking to cut Spurs’ wage bill this summer so that they begin looking at potential incomings, they will still drive a hard bargain before letting any players walk away from the club.

The Lilywhites chief has never been a man willing to let a player walk away for a cut-price and he has typically been reluctant to deal with local rivals, which was part of the reason Harry Kane ultimately ended up in Germany.

Daniel Levy is set for a busy summer at Tottenham.

Although Hojbjerg isn’t quite as good as Kane, Tottenham won’t want to help a local side improve this summer when they could earn the same fee by selling the Danish international to Fenerbache who they won’t have to compete with.

Ultimately, the most important thing for the Lilywhites is getting the midfielder’s wages off of their books this summer, alongside the likes of Giovani Lo Celso and Bryan Gil. As soon as a reasonable offer arrives in North London, they will likely be ready to accept it.

In other Tottenham news, Levy has been told to write off the signing of Tanguy Ndombele as a “nightmare scenario” emerged in North London
