‘Quality’: Marco Silva praises £41m Liverpool star after Fulham’s 2-2 draw at Anfield

Despite going down to 10-men early on against Fulham, Liverpool still proved their title credentials on Saturday afternoon at Anfield.

In the dying moments of the game it was Liverpool who were pushing for a winner – Arne Slot’s side barely looked to be a player down whatsoever.

Marco Silva’s Fulham side held Arsenal to a 0-0 draw the weekend before, but with 11 men throughout that goalless affair, the Gunners weren’t able create anywhere near as many chances as Liverpool.

Slot’s side are worth every bit of the praise they receive right now – something Silva seemed to agree with when discussing the game at full-time.

Marco Silva hails Diogo Jota for his impact on Liverpool injury return

The Fulham manager spoke to BBC MOTD after the game and praised Liverpool’s ‘aggressive’ approach, a side who are already used to winning under Slot.

And then Silva also hailed the impact of £41m winger Diogo Jota who returned from injury to immediately score, showing what Liverpool have been missing during his absence.

Silva said: “The game is emotional here. The crowd plays a big part and with the quality of Liverpool, they can almost be unstoppable.

“It’s the risk you have to take because we believe in ourselves. Liverpool are so good and they are winning so good, they are an aggressive team. Everything went to plan for us on the left-hand side.

“I think the red card created more emotion in the game, the crowd played their part. We had to keep more of the ball and make them run more.

“We reacted well and had so many times three against four, the decision-making has to be better. We conceded a late goal in a moment we were too open and the quality of Jota made an impact. We should have taken three.

“With one player more and leading the score, we should have been more narrow. We were too open and their composure was decisive.

“The momentum is here and in our group. I have to give credit to our players for their attitude and commitment. We have to go in the same way against Southampton next week.”

Arne Slot continues to impress at Liverpool

Slot also praised Jota after the draw, saying he did an excellent job off of the bench alongside Harvey Elliott.

Of course, the Liverpool manager also deserves praise for how he managed the game and was still able to inspire attacking impetus against Fulham despite the situation.

Slot seriously impressed Liverpool fans, who seem so enamored with their new manager, who has made the impossible task of replacing Jurgen Klopp a relatively seamless one.

Despite surrendering two points against Fulham, Liverpool are still in a healthy position in terms of the Premier League table.

Everton did Slot’s side a favour drawing 0-0 with Arsenal, meaning their gap will still be nine points to the Gunners if they win their game in hand.

Although, Chelsea are certainly becoming a threat who can’t be dismissed for too much longer.
