'Quite remarkable' - Pundit stunned as Tottenham player equals Harry Kane record already

Paul Robinson has been stunned by a new Brennan Johnson statistic after already equalling a Tottenham record set by Harry Kane.

The Welshman has scored in six consecutive matches in all competitions, helping Spurs to five victories in that time, and becoming the first player to achieve this since Kane in 2019 [Daily Mail].

This comes after the 23-year-old received a barrage of online hate from so-called supporters, leading to the player to delete all social media accounts.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Robinson said: “Brennan Johnson has become key. He looks a threat every time he gets the ball. Harry Kane made 435 appearances for Spurs and only scored in six consecutive games once.

“Johnson has played just 44 times and has already matched that feat. He may never do that again but he’s in the infancy of his Spurs career and given the number of times Kane did it, it’s quite remarkable.

“He may never do it again but he certainly has the opportunity to.”

No player deserves to feel how Johnson has done in recent weeks, due to a minority of fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, so those criticising him need to be just as loud with their apologies.

Of course, no one is comparing the winger to Spurs legend Kane, who made nearly half a century of appearances during his time in North London, but it is an incredible record to match.

While there is a strong feeling of disappointment following the 3-2 defeat to Brighton on Sunday 6 October, there are plenty of positives to focus on and Johnson is certainly one of them.
