Rafael Leao sends cryptic Man United message after Marcus Rashford report

Rafael Leao has the rumour mill spinning after sharing an image of Man United legend Cristiano Ronaldo amid uncertainty about Marcus Rashford’s future at the club.

According to Chris Wheeler from the Daily Mail, Man United would be willing to sell the 27-year-old for £40million in the summer.

Rashford has seen his relationship with the fans sour in recent seasons, and his boyhood club are no longer against offloading the England international and his £325,000-a-week wages.

The left winger has struggled for form this season, starting 19 of his 24 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals, and providing three assists in 1501 minutes of action.

Three of those goal contributions have come since Ruben Amorim took over in late November, scoring the opener in their 1-1 draw with Ipswich and a brace in United’s comprehensive 4-0 win over Everton.

Man United currently sit in 13th with just 19 points from their 15 Premier League games as they prepare to travel across Manchester to face bitter rivals Man City on Sunday (December 15).

Leao, 25, has been a standout in a struggling AC Milan side, starting 16 of his 20 appearances across all competitions, scoring six goals, and providing six assists in 1413 minutes on the pitch.

Spanish outlet Fichajes reported earlier in the season that Man United are one of three major European clubs interested in signing the left winger, especially if Rashford were to leave the club.

Leao took to Instagram after AC Milan’s 2-1 Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday (December 11) to share an image of countryman and Man United legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

Amorim hasn’t enjoyed much of a ‘new manager bounce’ since joining United, winning three, drawing one, and losing two of his six games in charge.

United have five games remaining in December alone as they aim to finally get their season on the right track.
