Rangers ace shares 'Massive' Ibrox admission ahead of Hibernian clash

Ross McCausland admitted it is “massive” for Rangers to be back at Ibrox as they prepare to face Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers will mark their 125th anniversary at Ibrox with a full-capacity stadium for the first time this season on Sunday [29 September] after the club announced the re-opening of the Copland Rear on X [26 September].

The occasion has not been lost on McCausland, fresh off his goal in the 2-0 win against Malmo in the Europa League, as he spoke to the Daily Record [29 September] about the monumental impact Ibrox can have on the Gers, who only recently returned to their home having started the campaign at Hampden Park.

He said: “It’ll be amazing to see everybody there, full and raring to go. Against Dundee last week it was massive the difference being back home instead of being at Hampden.

“Being back at Ibrox is going to be probably one of our biggest things for the rest of the season. We’ve obviously been at Hampden for cup games previously and the atmosphere there is normally good.

“But it’s hard for the league games, especially with the travel for the fans. I understand that so to be back at Ibrox is going to be massive.”

Rangers can become a force once again at Ibrox

The situation at Rangers is far from rosy this season, a win against Hibernian on Sunday would close the gap between themselves and Celtic at the top of the SPFL to five points and now Aberdeen have emerged as genuine challengers following their flawless start to the season.

Philippe Clement took a positive step in the Europa League to overcome the disappointment of Champions League elimination but, with tough fixtures awaiting south of the border in Tottenham and Manchester United, qualification to the knockout rounds is far from guaranteed.

Rangers supporters will be left wondering ‘what if?’ as Hampden Park hosted the loss to Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League, and many will believe after the draw in the first leg a return fixture at Ibrox would have yielded a far more positive result.

McCausland should return to the starting lineup after his European exploits midweek, it seems that Clement is moving closer to determining his strongest lineup at Ibrox as he looks to rectify his side’s fortunes.

A full-capacity Ibrox housing the world-renowned atmosphere will bring the psychological edge back to the Light Blues and is arguably more valuable than any player as Rangers well and truly begin their journey on Sunday to rebuild on a poor start to the season.

In other Rangers news, Rangers were told to ‘grow a set of balls’ after a Graeme Souness opportunity was wasted.
