Norwich City have suggested that they are yet to receive an official offer from Rangers for Kenny McLean this summer, according to Derek Clark.

The journalist reported on the Rangers Review YouTube channel (5 July, 18:10) that there is a belief the Light Blues will be able to strike a deal with the Canaries if they are willing to match his current contract.

This update comes after the Rangers Review (3 July) reported that Philippe Clement’s side had pulled the plug on a deal to bring the Scottish international to Ibrox due to issues agreeing personal terms.

Speaking on The Rangers Review, Clark said: “I reported a couple of days ago that talks had stalled with Kenny McLean and Rangers, of course, caveat that with there is still plenty of time in the transfer window for an agreement to be reached.

“Word reaching us from the Norwich side of things that no official offer has reached Norwich City at this moment in time. He is on a lucrative contract at Carrow Road, he signed a new deal last year.

“There is a belief that if Rangers can match the wages he is on and the length of contract then I think a deal can be struck but at this moment in time they are some way apart in regards to that.”

Will Rangers sign Kenny McLean in the summer transfer window amid Norwich City exit rumours?

Only a matter of days ago, this move was completely off of the cards but now it seems as though the Light Blues may well still manage to bring McLean to Ibrox before the start of next season.

Whether or not Clement’s side will be willing to pay the money required to match McLean’s current deal which is thought to be a good Championship contract remains to be seen, but there is still plenty of time left in the window.

It seemed unlikely that any potential deal was completely dead and buried this summer when the midfielder’s agent was left in hysterics by reports that personal terms had seen the two parties end their negotiations.

Hopefully, the Gers will make a genuine offer for the Scottish international’s services sooner rather than later if they’re genuinely interested in bringing him to Glasgow this summer before pre-season preparations ramp up in the coming weeks.
