Rangers demand £2.5m to sell player already - report

Rangers want £2.5million to sell Sam Lammers amid interest from FC Twente, according to the Daily Record.

The news outlet reported online (8 June) that the Gers are keen to sell the striker to create space and raise funds for an Ibrox summer rebuild.

Lammers is subject to interest from FC Twente, with the Dutch side’s budgets boosted after reaching the UEFA Champions League qualifiers (Voetbal International, 7 June).

The 27-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with FC Utrecht, who were keen to sign him permanently but could not meet his wage demands.

There will be no room in Philippe Clement’s squad next season for Lammers.

After arriving at Ibrox last summer, it didn’t take long for supporters to realise that this was a transfer which wasn’t going to work out.

And just a couple of short months after joining the club, Clement could see that for himself.

As a result, Lammers was shipped back to the Netherlands on loan.

He impressed while back in his homeland, but it was always unlikely that he had done enough to earn a spot back at Ibrox.

Everybody already knew what he could do in the Eredivisie, it was about whether he could do it in Glasgow.

Therefore, a sale makes sense for everybody involved.

Lammers will get to join a Champions League side, FC Twente will get their man, and the Gers will get some money back.

And if they could secure the £2.5million they are after, then that would be a massive boost.
